well, at least my favorite video games from when i was a kid. if i knew a place that sold these, i would buy them in a heartbeat.
first up is kung fu master. we shopped at safeway growing up and our particular safeway always had one video game. for a long time it was this. you give me that punching, jumping and kicking motherfucker and i will wreck your day, even if you're a little person in a lime green shirt.
next we have super punch out. i liked the first punch out too; the one with glass joe, piston honda, bald bull, kid quick, and mr. sandman, but this one was better.
that fat bitch canadian bear hugger would stick his tongue out at you mockingly if you socked him in the belly, but he didn't laugh so much once his overall-wearing ass was catching zzzzzs on the canvas. and i'm pretty sure jumping off the ropes is illegal in boxing, but it didn't stop dragon chan.
and here we have gauntlet. the makers of this game were super smart because you had to keep feeding it quarters to keep playing. you'd be playing with up to three of your friends and your warrior, elf, valkyrie, or wizard would die. well you couldn't just stop playing could you? i'd just end up pouring my allowance into this machine like the monkey hitting the cocaine lever in that old experiment; over and over and over.
last is dragon's lair. this game would probably bore the shit out of me now because there's only one way to play it correctly. the whole thing is scripted, meaning when presented with an obstacle or opponent, there is only one way to defeat it. it's basically just a memory test. but the graphics were way ahead of just about every other game at the time. like gauntlet above, this game would set you back a few weeks of allowance.
